I am working on a pixelated 3D mobile game in UE4, but when I decrease the resolution the pixels get blurry, on pc renderer I could just use r.Upscale.Quality 0 to use the nearest upscaling, but on mobile it doesn't seem to work Despite the Output log saying that r.Upscale.Quality 0 was executed. Is it possible to recreate this for mobile? Even if I'll need to edit the source code of the engine
( UE4 version: UE4.27-plus from github )
How to reproduce my issue:
Open UE4.27.2 create a new Third person project with "Target hardware" set to "Mobile / Tablet" and performance characteristics set to "Scalable 3D or 2D".
Navigate to : "Settings">"Engine Scalability Settings">"Resolution Scale". Set it into something really small like 1% for more noticeable issue.
Make sure to keep the Shading model 5.
Press " ` " to spawn a tiny command box.
Enter "r.Upscale.Quality 0" command and press play ( You will see sharp low resolution which is the effect I want for mobile ) Press stop.
Navigate to and select : "Settings">"Preview Rendering Level">"Android ES 3.1" or "Android Vulkan"
Press " ` " to spawn a tiny command box.
Enter "r.Upscale.Quality 0" command and press play ( You will see that its all blurry despite the command being successfully executed which is the problem I am having ) Press stop.
