Error Pentaho 11 Ubuntu 22.04 and JDK 17 or JDK 21 cannot run newly created transformations
17:54 03 Mar 2026

enter image description hereI've tried a bunch of different things setting the GTK3 setting to 1. I've tried different JDKs 17 or 21. I also tried clearing the .kettle/database-cache and I also tried creating a new repository and DB connections and every time I get an error when trying to run a new transformation.

I'm coming from Pentaho 10 on this VM. Pentaho works fine, but want to upgrade over to Pentaho 11.

When I try to run a transformation I get this error. Despite having a proper JDK, a correctly defined Database Configuration, and a correctly written query.

The error is pointing to an undefined DB parameter, but it is newly defined and selected in Pentaho 11. Pentaho 11 data-integration can run transformations fine, but when I try to create a new transformation from scratch it always fails.

I moved the .kettle directory out of the user's home directory. Setup a new repository and DB connections still get the same error shown in the screenshot in this post
