I created a new repo on Codeberg and cloned it to my local. I then made a change and on my first attempt to push the update it asked me for credentials. I entered my username and generated an access token on Codeberg and used it as my password. Afterwards it never prompted me again on subsequent pushes.

My question is, where were these credentials stored?

I expected them to be stored in .git/config in the repo, but the remote origin url contains only the url to the repo and no credentials.
