I tried to move the whole folder of my VMs to a different location. I changed the path in the *.vmx and *.vmsd files. When i tried to start a VM (a shallow clone), it asked if the VM was moved or copied and i selected "moved".

But then it failed with the error "The parent of this virtual disk could not be opened". According to the log, it tries to search for the parent (the cloning source) in the old location.

How can i correct this? I did this once already and it worked, that was with Workstation 17, not sure if that's relevant.

The internet tells me to chan the path in the vmdk, but that is obviously rather difficult as it's a binary file.
