Extension: WSL

I have a use case that requires modifying the WSL VSCode extension. The extension page takes you to a GH repo for vscode-remote-release, but the extension code isn't in there. I've look in the vscode monorepo and don't see anything under extensions/. There are some files that relate to WSL (like src/vs/platform/remote/node/wsl.ts), but this appears to be separate from the extension.

My use case requires modifying how the extension calls wsl.exe. I need to inject some custom logic so I was hoping to make my changes to the source and rebuild for my environment.
