Typesense synonym in middle of query doesn't work
04:52 03 Dec 2025

I have a collection of documents of products (lights) with text in Italian + a lot of technical info. All fields are searcheable and I am querying by all fields. When I search here are the parameters I use:

  • query
  • query by (*)
  • other specific collection params (sort_by, facet_by, per_page, ...) that are not technical parameters

Now I am trying to make synonyms work: if I search "evo oro 2700k" I match all documents that have all the 3 words (so not 1 or 2, they have all 3). I added to the collection the synonym "oro, gold", so I want to have the same result by searching "evo gold 2700k" but it seems like it does work, it finds all docs with "evo".

I tested and if I search "gold" it matches correctly "oro" and if I search "evo gold" it matches correctly docs with both "evo" and "oro". If i then add "2700k" it doesn't work. I also tested "evo 2700k gold" and it matches documents with "evo" and "2700k" but it looks like "gold" is ignored.

I tested some parameters for the query found in the Typesense documentation but nothing seems to work, maybe I need a specific configuration. I am on Next/React and using the Typesense search client and all searches pass by a single search function so I cannot make exceptions for certain searches, it has to work always.
