Why are the IDs displayed by Validation different from the ones displayed in API Dump?

I use the Vulkan Configurator tool to enable two layers at the same time:

  • VK_LAYER_KHRONOS_validation
  • VK_LAYER_LUNARG_api_dump

When I see an validation error in the log it looks like this:

The API Dump looks like this:

The IDs are completely different.

The IDs displayed by the API Dump seem to be the ones that I can see when stepping in the debugger.

It would be handy if both layers used the same convention for IDs, so I could Ctrl+F in the API Dump the resources that generate errors.

Just to be clear, it's not just the IDs in the Validation Layers have the "0x" preffix; the IDs are completely different.
