Israel Vows to Pursue Hamas ‘Wherever They Are’ Amid Qatar Summit
Israel has intensified its warnings against Hamas, declaring that it will target the group’s operatives and leadership ‘wherever they are,’ even as Qatar hosts a high-profile summit seeking to ease regional tensions. The statement underscores Israel’s determination to continue its campaign against the militant organization, which it accuses of orchestrating deadly attacks and destabilizing security across the Middle East.
The announcement came as senior officials from across the region gathered in Doha, where the Gulf state is hosting discussions aimed at de-escalating conflict and building frameworks for dialogue. While Qatar has long positioned itself as a mediator between conflicting sides, the renewed threats from Israel highlighted the deep rift and persistent volatility in the region.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, in a televised address, asserted that Hamas leadership cannot evade accountability. “There will be no safe haven for Hamas. Whether in Gaza, Lebanon, or beyond, we will reach them,” he said, emphasizing Israel’s stance that military action will remain on the table regardless of international mediation efforts.
The remarks come against the backdrop of intensified airstrikes and intelligence operations that Israel claims are aimed at dismantling Hamas networks and preventing further attacks on Israeli citizens. Military officials have also hinted at an expanded scope of operations beyond Gaza, fueling speculation about potential cross-border escalations.
Qatar, which has historically maintained channels of communication with Hamas, reiterated its commitment to dialogue and called for restraint from all parties. “We believe sustainable peace can only be achieved through diplomacy, not force,” a Qatari official said, appealing for cooperation at the summit.
International observers have expressed concern that Israel’s uncompromising rhetoric could overshadow diplomatic initiatives, particularly at a time when regional actors are seeking to stabilize political and economic frameworks. The United Nations urged all sides to avoid provocative statements and actions that might further inflame tensions.
Analysts note that Israel’s warnings are as much directed at Hamas as they are at regional players seen as offering the group support. The broader implication is a signal to neighboring states and mediators that Israel’s security objectives remain non-negotiable, even as peace talks progress in parallel forums.
As the Doha summit continues, the spotlight remains on whether regional diplomacy can temper hardline positions. For now, Israel’s latest declaration serves as a stark reminder of the fragile balance between dialogue and conflict in the Middle East.
